Or Carolyn Bryant who lied about Emmett Till & kept that lie a secret for decades despite knowing it caused his murder. Betty Shelby who shot & killed an unarmed Black man. White women drive the school to prison pipeline for Black youth. It’s not racists using white women, it is white women being racist and not being accountable for the harm they do.
Carolyn Bryant isn’t the best example because it’s implied that her heavily abusive husband forced her into the plot, but yeah Emmet Till’s story is still one of the most famous examples of white womanhood being used to demonize black men & that shit is still pervasive today

i’ve definitely seen police vehicles with machine guns on the top. the reason the police don’t have to use missile launchers is because the government already ensured no one would have them by making them illegal. look up the 1033 program and quit being a smartass.
Plus, militarization is just as much an attitude thing as a material thing. You can see it in how cops talk about the public- “dangerous streets” “need to be controlled” “a constant threat” (all direct quotes from cops I know, btw). Police approach policing as armed enforcers who are above the law, and who use violence freely- even when there’s no law broken, they just feel “disrespected” (there was one incident that got famous for this, a black woman who was arrested for ‘talking back’ to a cop). Police treat themselves like a military.
As someone who was IN the military, you bet your ass that we would DAMN WELL need to have a damn good reason before we pulled HALF the shit police do, or we’d be up in front of our chain of command and getting busted rank so fast it would make our heads spin. Police get away with a heckuva lot more than the military does.

By 2020 85% of all dams in the united states will be past their life expectancy, and the dams which won’t be past their life expectancy don’t mean they’re safe, the vast majority of those dams are still not technologically advanced enough for our modern society, nearly all dams in the united states are hazardous when looking at this map.
It doesn’t matter how solid a dam is down river from a high-hazard dam. If the high hazard dam fails it will wash out all the dams down river, which will flood even the low risk dams, and can cause failure.
Dam repairs, and updates, and removal is expensive and dangerous, but necessary if we don’t want millions of people to lose their lives.

This is going to have terrible and likely domino effect-like consequences, and the Trump administration knows that. They will happily let this, and everyone making fun of it, distract from that.
